Dr. Yaser Teebi is a Clinical Psychologist and Gerontologist who specialises in Geriatrics and Gerontology. He currently holds the position of Director for Community Wellbeing within the Active Ageing and Community Care Department, within the Ministry for Health and Active Ageing. This followed almost 9 years of clinical practice at one of Malta’s leading rehabilitation hospitals, where he applied his expertise to a wide spectrum of ageing-related concerns, including grief, loss, and the psychological effects of chronic illness. Over the years, he has delved into numerous issues surrounding later life, drawing insights that informed both his clinical, academic work, and now currently inform his headship position within the AACC.

Dr Teebi has obtained a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), a Master of Gerontology and Geriatrics, and a Master of Psychology in Clinical Psychology. He has also completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Birmingham, with his thesis focusing on Awareness in Dementia. Dr Teebi has researched a wide variety of issues pertaining to old age, including depression in the oldest-old (90+), chronic pain, loss, neurological conditions in old age, rehabilitation psychology, and grief and bereavement, which are his main academic interests. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences. He is a Visiting Lecturer and Supervisor at various institutions and an expert peer reviewer for Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, a SAGE Journal. He is the Vice President for Union Matters for the Malta Chamber of Psychologists.
