Meet the Student Council

Building A Student Community at Domain Academy

We’re excited to introduce the new Student Council, your peers who’ll help shape student life, amplify your voice, and make our community even stronger. You’ll have the chance to meet them in person at Graduation later this month, share ideas, and explore how the Council can support you (especially if you’re planning to further your studies with us).

What does the Student Council Do ?

The Student Council plays a vital role in representing the student voice, fostering engagement, and creating a dynamic, inclusive campus experience for everyone at Domain Academy.

By serving as a bridge between the student body and the institution, the Council ensures that student perspectives are heard, ideas are shared, and initiatives are brought to life.

Whether it's supporting academic life, organising social activities, or contributing to positive change, the Council is at the heart of student life.

Your 2025-2026 Student Council

President - Bashir Wakil

Official representative of the student body, chairs and liaises with Academy leadership and external partners.

“Hi, my name is Bashir Wakil and I am currently in my third year at Domain Academy, studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.

I have always been passionate about student life and leadership. Before joining Domain Academy, I was part of a student council for two consecutive years when I was in college, and today I am proud to serve as the President of the Student Council here. My goal is to make student life both engaging and meaningful, creating an environment where everyone feels involved and connected.

Outside of academics, I am a football enthusiast who loves both playing and following the game especially as a devoted Real Madrid fan. I also enjoy keeping active at the gym and exploring new challenges that push me to grow.

A fun fact about me is that I have had speaking parts in international films, including 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and When Pigs Have Wings.

For me, student life is about more than just lectures and assignments it’s about leadership, collaboration, and building experiences that last beyond the classroom.”

Secretary-Treasurer - Christopher Vassallo Laferla

Keeps minutes and communications, manages budgeting and records, and oversees the proper use of funds.

“Hi, my name is Christopher Vassallo Laferla and I currentlyserve as the Secretary Treasurer on the student council at the Domain Academy. That means I get to do two of my favorite things: budgeting in order to makesure the numbers add up and keeping track of every initiative that the councilundertakes in its daily activities.

I believe student life should be both productive and fun, so as part of the student council I will ensure to bring a bit of both. I endeavour to represent your needs as students as well as support new projects, and work to keep our academic lives as prosperous as possible. It is definitely a unique mix of responsibility, collaboration, and the fine art of keeping a straight face in long meetings.

When I’m not taking minutes or balancing budgets, you will probably find me huddled somewhere reading a good fantasy or science-fiction novel, bingeing a tv show or probably hiking somewhere around the world that we call our home. But you will most probably find me on a computer or laptop trying to convince myself that organising my desktop folders counts as a hobby.”

Member at Large - Inoshi Malshani Hewagamage

Supports initiatives, participates in decisions, and acts as a liaison to collect student feedback.

“Hi, my name is A. A. Inoshi Malshani Hewagamage, and I currently serve as the Member at Large on the Student Council at Domain Academy. I am studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and I am originally from Sri Lanka.

As Member at Large, my role is to represent the wider student body, listen to student voices, and bring forward ideas that make our community more connected.I believe that student life should be inclusive, supportive, and engaging, so my focus is on helping to create events and activities that bring people together, whether academically or socially.

When I’m not studying or working with the council, I enjoy connecting with people from different cultures and learning new perspectives. Being part of an international community at Domain Academy has been a truly enriching experience, and I look forward to contributing to it even more through the council.”
